Brods suffered a heavy Yorkshire One defeat at the hands of a strong YM side who have recruited well during the close season.

The Huddersfield side already look to be one of the favourites for promotion even at this early stage of the season within an unbeaten record and a total points scored of 139 in just three games.

Brods, who had opened the season well with an away win at Dinnington and a solid second half performance against North Ribblesdale, were unable to cope with the strength and high tempo play of the YM backs. Outstanding performances by the centre partnership of Adam Ryder, who was playing National League rugby with Huddersfield last season, and former Huddersfield giant Ed Barber were the key to the free scoring YM performance.

Their individual pace and strength were too much of a handful for the Brods and a number of missed tackles were punished by the clinical finishing of the Laund Hill men.

YM opened the scoring after only five minutes when the ball was moved swiftly through hands on the left flank, and the Brods allowed their opposite numbers too much room resulting in a score close to the posts. YM dominated possession and territory and Ryder took advantage of a loose pass to extend their lead to 13 points after 20 minutes.

Brods responded well with Kyle Millward leading the offensive while Danny Wood took advantage of a penalty awarded for offside to take the three points from 40 metres out.

Brods enjoyed a good period of possession with an equal share of scrum and line. However, from an attacking position following a strong run from teenage centre Phil Town, a clearance kick resulted in a knock on in defence and from the scrum the YM pack picked their moment and drove strongly for the line.

With Brods reduced to 14 men following a yellow card against Ryan Harris, they conceded a further try after losing the ball whilst in possession to powerful centre Adam Ryder and a half time score of 26-3.

In the second half missed tackles resulted in several further scores and there was no way back for the Woodhead men.
