Seniors come good in annual St Ives showdown

The Crow Nest Park GC Seniors played their Annual Away Day at Bingley St Ives golf Club

They played for the George and Mary Anderson trophy which was won by club treasurer David Longbottom with a score of 39 stableford points.

Taking the runners-up spot on a count back from Jim Gray was Ken Kent, with 37 points.

The team competition was won by the team of Glynn Harrison, Bernard Thompson, David Longbottom and Mel Green. The team returned a score of 122 points.

In line with club Captain Shaun Higgins promise to the membership, he delivered the weather for his big day at Crow Nest Golf Club.

A record 118 golfers turned out to make it a day to remember for Shaun. The Juniors and Ladies competitions in line with previous years were played the week before Captain’s Day.

The overall winner of the sought after Captains Day Cup was club Head Green Keeper, Rob Gee, who collected his trophy dressed as Boy George, as part of the evening’s 80s theme.

Rob scored a quality level gross score of 70, giving him a net score of 64.

In runners-up spot was club Child Welfare Officer, Steve Aldeguer who returned a very commendable net 65 with Tom Holmes taking the third place on a countback with a net 67.

The Ladies Competition, The Allan Naylor Trophy, was won by Jackie Turner who scored 42 points, which resulted in a handicap reduction of four shots, to 28.8.

Julie Langfield came second with 38 points and Veronica Whitehill came third with 36 points.

The Juniors Event was won by Luke Higgins.
