Rastrick kids win praise

Rastrick Cricket Club held their prize and presentation evening for the junior section last Friday night in their Round Hill clubhouse.

They had a very good turn out of junior players and their families with the prizes given out by John Edge, Mike Jagger and Charles Squire.

The awards were as follows: Under 9 batting: Archie Noon, bowling Adam Taylor and fielding Tom Peacock.

Under 11 batting: Samraj Sangha, bowling Max Swann and fielding. Jemina Wood.

Under 13 batting: Nathan Shaw, bowling Sam Shaw and fielding Eddie Uttley.

Under 15 batting: Ben Birkhead, bowling Matty Ashford and fielding Chris Karmysn.

The Alan Hartley Trophy for the most improved junior went to Jasraj Sangha, the AC Lane Trophy for the best junior fielder to Tom Bennett, the Brough Fletcher Memorial Trophy for the best junior all rounder was won by Nathan Shaw and the Brian Wilkinson award for the best newcomer to Logan Swann.

Rastrick have also welcomed on board this past week new sponsor Sam Gledhill who is pictured with Rastrick players David and Andrew Jarratt.

The club has also been donated £250 from the Terberg Charity Fund.

Former long term player and secretary John Edge commented:

“We are very grateful to Terberg for donating £250 to the Cricket Section and as yet we haven’t decided what the money will be used for. “

We are also pleased to get the support of local joiner Sam Gledhill who is keen to help the club as he looks to expand his business in the local community.

“Without the support of our sponsors and supporters the club would not be able to survive the money that we have received gives us a good start to our plans for the 2014 season.”
