Rastrick Under-11s travelled to Hill Top looking to avenge a Huddersfield Junior League defeat from earlier in the season and, after winning the toss, they put Slaithwaite into bat.
Rastrick produced their most disciplined bowling performance of the season when restricting Slaithwaite to a total of 287, which was reduced to a nett score of 231 due to the loss of seven wickets.
The nice thing was the wickets were split over seven different bowlers with everyone playing a part both in bowling and fielding.
There was also a very sharp display from Joe Mobbs, the wicketkeeper, who was unlucky not to add to his one stumping.
Rastrick started their innings well with Adam Taylor (17) and Logan Swann putting a good partnership together for the first pairing.
The runs then started to dry up but, crucially, wickets remained intact as Rastrick crawled along towards their target.
The innings then gained impetus from first Mobbs (19) and then Callum Croughan (33) taking Rastrick to a total of 287 reduced to a nett score of 275 due to the loss of four wickets.
It was an excellent performance from Rastrick and hopefully set the standards for the rest of the season.
