Rastrick’s Drakes Huddersfield League Cedar Court Conference title hopes were dealt a serious blow with a heavy defeat at Birkby Rose Hill.
The home side racked up 302 for six with Muhammad Kamran (58), Khuram Sajad (77), Kamran Saleem (44) and Nazar Rashid (30) making the Round Hill bowlers pay.
The division’s in-form bowler this season, Jordan Ghani, saw 100 runs taken off his 14 overs with just one wicket.
Mitchell McCoach also found it tough going with two for 64 in 11 overs before change bowlers Nick Marsden (one for 23 in six) and Jack Pearson (two for 31 in six) did manage to put the brakes on the home side.
In reply, Rastrick lost wickets regularly before they were 215 all out.
There were positive signs with the bat for Jacob Waterson (51) and Robin Lambert (67) but seven other batsmen failed to reach double figures for the leaders.
For the winners Mustaq Hussain took three for 41 and Nazar Rashid three for 51.
Rastrick seconds also suffered at the hands of Birkby, stumbling to 132 all out.
Had it not been for Tom Barrett (32), Owen Thomas (26), Tom Stead (23) and quite a few extras they would have been defending a very low score.
