Rastrick High School student Eden Warburton missed the first rounds of the Yorkshire swimming championships through illness, but competed in the Yorkshire sprints and teams’ events at Ponds Forge in Sheffield and had a really good weekend.
She took gold in the 50m backstroke, came fifth in the butterfly and then went on to claim silver in the freestyle.
Eden missed out on gold to a fingertip touch to her teammate Rebecca Thornton, and then on Sunday in the teams she went off first leg in the 4x200m free team and swam a superb leg, going faster than her individual swim the day before.
The Borough of Kirklees team then went on to take gold in front of City of Leeds.
Eden also went off first in the 4x200m medley team doing backstroke and once again she had a superb leg, going faster than her individual swim the day before.
The team finished third to take bronze behind Leeds and Sheffield.
Brighouse Swimming Club has finalised their gala timetable for 2013, and the first one took place on Friday March 15 at Brighouse Swimming Pool.
The Tadpole Gala saw in excess of 30 children between the ages of four and eight take part in races of various lengths and strokes and it was very well attended by mums and dads. There was also plenty of members of the club taking down the results.
Further galas are planned for next month, June and September.
