LIFE members Audrey Cox and Jack Denham formally opened the new bridge over the Helliwell Syke stream on the approach to the third green at Lightcliffe Golf Club.
Other improvements have also been carried out with the removal of decayed and over mature trees and re-grading and turfing the stream side.
Funds for the scheme were raised by younger members who were sponsored to participate in the Great North Run last year.
The bridge is in a distinctive Lightcliffe style and is constructed from materials from the original field walls which traversed the course 100 years ago.
Thanks were expressed for the work done by head greenkeeper James Senior and his assistant Mike Anderton, the builder, and Alain Philp, the director of greens.
The opening on Friday May 27 was celebrated with an informal Family Texas Scramble with Juniors Georgia and Matthew Holden and James Edwards receiving recognition for their excellent golf.
The captain playing with Ian and Carol Philp won the event with a score of 30.35 over the nine holes
The event ended a busy week at Lightcliffe.
Tuesday saw a full turnout for the revived seniors open Tri Am, won by a team from Rotheram, with Bradley Hall, led by former Lightcliffe member Nick Hughes, in second place.
Mike Anderton won the challenge to be nearest the pin in two shots on the new third.
Wednesday again saw the course full for the Ladies Invitation.
