IT was two wins in three years for Jimmy Lough at the annual President’s Day competition at Crow Nest Park Golf Club.
He shot a nett 67 to take the President’s Cup from Ashley Wales with club captain Dean Wilson, who shot the best gross of the day with a two over par 72, in third.
The longest drive went to Mark Widdop and the nearest the pin prize to Tony Hereford, who also won the men’s non-qualifying competition.
Weather conditions were very testing with strong winds and intermitent heavy rain showers but that did not deter the 130 competitors playing in the four competitions and there was some exceptionally good golf played.
Scott Henry won the junior competition with 40 points from Issac Nicholl and Kyle Broadbent.
The longest drive was won by junior captain Luke Higgins.
Kathy Hitchcock won the President’s Ladies Cup. She had previously won in 2000. Ann Stafford was second and Amanda Mowl third.
The non-qualifying competition winner was Elaine Mackie.
The longest/straightest drive challenge was won by Diane Higgins and nearest the pin by Carole Hampson.
Club president John Turner thanked everyone who had played in the four competitions and all who had helped to make the day a success.
He said the course was in fabulous condition and the atmosphere throughout the day and evening was excellent.
The celebrations continued with a disco.
