Brighouse Town Ladies smashed their way to the top of the NERWFL with a convincing 6-0 win over Wakefield at Leeds Road Sports Complex.
In blustery conditions on the slick 3G surface, Town started really well with Wakefield failing to adapt to the conditions, Rob Mitchell’s side taking complete control.
Rachael White opened the scoring with a neat finish after a good move down the left. Lyndsey Naden had played in Jordane Allison, who delivered to White to make it 1-0. It was 2-0 soon after with the move of the match. This time down the right with Kayleigh Bamforth linking up well with Claire Needham, the former delivering a precise cross for Jodie Redgarve to nod in to make it 3-0. Just before the break, Annabelle Cass lashed in an effort from distance to make it 4-0.
The second half saw Town keep up the pressure. White completed her hat-trick and grabbed her 50th goal for the club from the edge of the area before a Bamforth corner was deflected in for 6-0.
The win now takes them top by two points after eight games. Next up is a tough trip to York City this Sunday (2pm) at York St John’s University..
Player of the match was Needham, with November’s Player of the Month being Bamforth.
