Town made it 14 goals in two games on Tuesday evening as they hammered Scunthorpe-based team Winterton Rangers with a blistering performance.
The game had to be delayed half an hour due to an accident on the M62 holding the team up, which was the start of things to come for the visitors with the 9-1 mauling.
Player-manager Paul Quinn commented: “It’s been a good night and I am pleased with the result, it meant we could relax in the second half.
“Young Richard (Roberts) standing in for injured Jacob Giles did well in goal and he made some brave saves. He is only 19 but when tested showed real promise. “Some of our goals were fantastic as was the build up to them with some of the passes. There must have been 12 players involved in the build up to Danny Naidole’s fantastic effort.
“We have been saying for weeks if we could just capitalise on the attempts we would get a big result and tonight everything fell into place.”
Four minutes in and Town opened their account as Luke Gibson played in Ryan Hall who on the angle sent in a quick fire shot to make it 1-0.
A minute later and it was goal number two for Hall with yet another shot after once more he had come in on the angle from the right of the box and fired across the keeper.
Hall sent in a low curved ball that was only just pushed away by keeper Daniel Waring. It was all Town and In the 21st minute Danny Naidole fired in a ball in from 30 yards out that just cleared the bar.
A minute later on a rare breakaway WInterton made it 2-1 with Declan Marshall credited with the goal.
In the 27th minute Town keeper Roberts made a superb save when a shot from Fabio Snow was on target until Roberts pushed it over the bar with his fingertips.
This purple patch for the visitors appeared to inject more life back into Town and in the 35th minute they made it 3-1 when skipper Leon Henry was brought down by Dan Goldie and his side awarded a penalty. Joe Mitchell stepped up and blasted it wide of Waring.
In the 38th minute Naidole scored from 30 yards out after some superb passing, his powerful shot weaving and leaving Waring rooted to his line and it was 4-1.
In the 41st minute Hall after two near misses bagged his hat-trick with a suberb shot that bounced in the top corner and then bounced back across goal and into the net to make it 5-1. Half time couldn’t come soon enough for the visitors.
In the 47th minute Matthews, denied several times in the first half, turned and took a shot to make it 6-1.
In the 56th minute Town went 7-1up when in quick sucession, Hall was denied and Boafo put the ball past the keeper from the fallout.
