Brighouse Juniors B U13 1 Brighouse Juniors A 5
Brighouse A showed their quality to run out comfortable winners, although it could have been a different match had Brighouse B taken two early chances through Lucas Breton and Jamie McCrink.
They were made to pay for their misses when Ben Brearley won the ball and played in Luke Smith who finished in style. It was soon 2-0 when Dylan Metcalfe walked through the home defence and coolly beat the advancing Adamthwaite in goal. After 18 minutes it was 3-0 when Ben Brearley drove the ball into the bottom left corner.
Brighouse B, though, came close to reducing the deficit when Breton threaded a ball from the right into the path of Sam Lock, whose first-time shot was saved by the impressive Jacob Bryan.
The second half saw Brighouse B on the front foot, but again when they threatened to score Bryan in goal stood firm. The fourth goal came from a corner which was headed home by Metcalfe.
Within two minutes it was 4-1, hoswever. Joshua Scott won a tackle on the right and played a quick pass inside to Lock, who switched play to the left where full-back Joseph Moore cut inside to curl a shot which Bryan palmed out to Will Bakes, who stabbed home.
The B team nearly scored a second shortly after when McCrink beat the offside trap only to drag his shot wide.
Brighouse A completed the scoring late on when a speculative effort from Brearley from 25 yards out eluded the goalkeeper Adamthwaite to make it 5-1.
This maintains an excellent 100 per cent start to the season for Brighouse A with nine wins out of nine.
