Brighouse Town Ladies continued their pre-season preparations with a feast of football at the Dual Seal Stadium.
The WPL outfit hosted three sides in Bingley, Brighouse Athletic and Blackburn Rovers between their senior and junior sides.
The day kicked off with Town’s impressive Under-8 girls side playing Bingley and showing why they are so highly thought of.
The senior sides then took centre stage with a local derby between Town and Athletic in a match light-heartedly dubbed ‘the battle of Brighouse.’
It was Town who proved to have the uppwer-hand, running out comfortable 5-0 winners with the visitors never really causing any problems for Jonathon Holden’s impressive side.
Town then faced one of the best female sides in the country, Blackburn Rovers, who have recruited heavily through pre-season from the likes of Manchester City and Bradford City.
The game itself was quite an even contest until Rovers capitalised on a mistake to make it 1-0, which later became 2-0 as half time approached with Rovers in complete control.
Town clawed one back through Jess Doyle and then went back and hit the bar once again before Rovers went on to win 5-1.
It was a tough test for Rob Mitchell’s side but one which will have lots of positives in preparation for the WPL campaign.
