Brighouse Town suffered an alarming collapse in the last half hour and lost 5-1 at home to lowly Whitton Albion in the Evo Stik League’s first division north yesterday.
Things were looking good for Paul Quinn’s side when they led thanks to another fine goal from Ryan Hall.
He picked up the ball close to half way and made ground before firing a rocket shot into the top corner of the net from 25 yards just before the break.
However, Alex Titchenor’s equaliser after 60 minutes started to shift the balance of power.
Two goals in two minutes from Jonathan Dawson and Robert Hopley gave Albion a 3-1 advantage and Hopley and Jamie Menagh rubbed salt into Town’s wounds late on.
Brighouse, who are ninth in the table to Albion’s 17th, travel to third-placed Ossett Albion on Boxing Day and then host Scarborough Athletic, who are 18th, on December 28.
