The club in Mytholmroyd has produced several Yorkshire and National champions and coach Clayton Varey believes that it plays an important role in the community. He said: "Since the pandemic began last March, we've found ourselves closed for months at a time and it has been a big knock for our income.

"We’re a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers and we're fundraising to make sure we can keep the doors open and keep our gym Covid-safe for our boxers when they can return.

"We’ve been an affiliated boxing club for 13 years and we’re not planning on stopping anytime soon. The club is loved and plays an important part in the Calder Valley community.

"We work closely with Calder High School and care massively about giving the youngsters somewhere to go and use their energy creatively in an evening and are committed to promoting healthy living and promoting active fitness."

Those donating can pick up rewards including limited edition t-shirts and sweatshirts, as well as signed boxing memorabilia. Any extra funds raised above the target will go into improving the club's facilities.
