A YOUNG racer is on the fast track to success in motorcycle grasstrack racing.
Harry McGurk, is proving to be one of the fastest and youngest riders on in his first full season of the sport.
The seven-year-old from Wyke has competed throughout the UK, as well as meets at his home base the Yorkshire Grasstrack Junior club in Mirfield.
In the British Championships in Bristol, he came second overall in his class.
The 50cc rider has already claimed the came South West Championship, is the current leader in the Pickering Championship and became the Bristol club champion.
Out of the 21 races this season he has 19 podiums, seven victories, seven runner ups spots and five third places.
As a fifth birthday present, parents Mark and Emma bought Harry his first bike and has never looked back.
“We didn’t want him to get bored so I started looking for clubs and found Grasstrack Yorkshire so we went to watch a couple of the meetings,” said Mark. “He really enjoyed so we got him a racing licence for 2011.
“It’s such a great sport as a lot of families go and everybody has a great time.”
Mum Emma said: “We have been basing our holidays around the meetings so we have been quite busy.
“I would definitely recommend families to come and watch or to get involved.
Younger brother Sam will be joining his older brother in the ranks next year. He is also seeking sponsors for his protective clothing/equipment and his bike for next season.
