The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of icy and wintry conditions for today (Thursday) and into Friday morning for the Yorkshire and Humber region.
A wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow showers are expected through the rest of Thursday leading to icy stretches on untreated surfaces on Thursday night into Friday morning.
Forecasters said: “The showers will gradually become lighter and restricted to the far southeast of England overnight.
“Snow accumulations of 1-3 cm are possible in places. Due to the showery nature of the flow many places will probably miss the snow.
“The public should be aware of the potential for disruption to travel.”
