More than 350 fund-raisers stepped out in the welcome spring sunshine to raise money on the Rotary Navigation Walk.
There were plenty of smiling faces along the 20-mile route between Horbury and Sowerby Bridge.
Press officer Olwen Edwards said: “There were toddlers, some over-80s, many aged in between and a few family dogs - there was even a gorilla! We had a highly successful day and will soon be able to announce the total raised.”
All money from the annual event goes to Wakefield Hospice, Kirkwood Hospice, the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and Overgate Hospice.
Ian Hamer of Brighouse Rotary Club said: “We had an excellent day at the canalside registration point and all the walkers were in good spirits . It was a good day and conditions were perfect.”
