AMBASSADORS are needed to help with the next stage of the Rastrick Big Local project.
The committee, selected to help drive the scheme, are on the look out for more residents to spread the word within the community.
Earlier this year, Rastrick was awarded £1 million from the Big Lottery Fund.
With the help of Big Local, which is being run by Local Trust, residents are being guided on how to decide where the money is spent and how to involve everyone so it benefits the whole area.
Rastrick has been allocated £1 million to spend over the next ten years on projects that will make the area an even better place to live.
The money awarded to the area in February aims to improve communities up and down the country which so far have not had their fair share of lottery cash.
At Rastrick ward forum, Big Local ambassador Adrian Hartshorn said that a leaflet drop would be completed by the end of the week where every household in Rastrick would receive information about Big Local.
“We have got to work for this money and to do that we need more volunteers to spread the word,” said Mr Hartshorn. “We have a another steering group meeting at Arncliffe Community Centre at 7pm on Wednesday, October 24, and a reference group meeting at Rastrick Cricket Club at 7pm on Wednesday, November 7.”
Volunteers are needed to help assist an experienced ambassador at engagement meetings happening over the next few weeks.
Engagement meetings are being held on the following dates:
Coffee morning at Field Lane Primary School, October 11, 8.45am.
Children’s session at the Arncliffe Community Centre, October 24, 1-3pm. Achievement assembly at Carr Green Primary School, October 26, 2.45pm.
Annual Conference at William Henry Smith School, November 2 9am-3.30pm.
