MEMBERS of Brighouse Ludenscheid Society have a range of events planned for visitors from its twin town.
About 20 members from Ludenscheid will arrive in the town on Friday April 22 by various means of transport which includes plane and cars. They will have a welcome and St George’s Race Night at the Globe pub, Rastrick on April 23 followed by a worship at St John’s Church, Rastrick, the following day.
During their visit members will enjoy a historical work around Brighouse, and a civic reception where a presentation will be made to recognise the 60th anniversary of the link between Brighouse and the German town.
There will be visits to the Galpharm Stadium and Ripon and Newby Hall, and a special celebration on April 29 for the Royal Wedding which will start with a Royal Wedding breakfast at the Chairman’s Chris Redfearn’s house. A small commemorative gift will be made to the visitors and there will be a dress code where the ladies must wear hats.
Publicity officer Stuart Black, said: “Muriel Tacke, a pupil from a school in Ludenscheid who was picked as the best student at speaking in English, from amongst the school in Ludenscheid will be joining the visitors. Part of her prize was a trip to Brighouse at Easter along with some of the Ludenscheid-Brighouse-Gesellschaft Society members who will be coming for a weeks visit.”
