TWO people have been cleared in a fraud trial over a ‘ponzi’ scheme involving a Brighouse man.
Daniel Hirst, 35, of Marsh Lane, Leeds, and Zoe Waite, from Surrey, were found not guilty of all the charges against them.
But the jury is still considering its verdict against Linda Hirst, 62, from Surrey, and Richard Pollett, 70, from Dorset.
John Hirst, 61, of Millroyd Mill, Huddersfield Road, Brighouse, husband to Linda and Daniel’s father, has already accepted involvement in the scheme which swindled millions of pounds from investors including ex-pats in Mallorca.
Daniel Hirst and Miss Waite denied allegations of money laundering and the jury found them not guilty on all counts after days of deliberation.
They will continue considering the case against financial advisor Richard Pollett and John Hirst’s second wife Linda when the court reconvenes this morning.
