Roads around Brighouse will become 20mph speed restricted zones in two years, as dates for the introduction of the road safety scheme are announced.
Areas around Rastrick, Bailiff Bridge, Clifton, Hove Edge and Brighouse Wood Lane will see the speed restrictions on the roads introduced in February 2017.
The pioneering road safety scheme, which is the first of its kind in West Yorkshire, will see a 20mph default speed limit in all residential areas across the borough.
The project will be intiated in Halifax in the summer.
Councillor Peter Caffrey, who has cabinet responsibility for economy, said the council was leading the way with the 20mph scheme in West Yorkshire.
He said: “The scheme in Calderdale is a guinea pig for other areas in the region and I am sure other areas will follow suit.”
