April showers did not dampen people’s enthusiasm for the event as they turned out in their thousands on Saturday. And on Sunday visitors basked in the sunshine as the event enjoyed glorious weather.

The Brighouse Spring Market, which was extended to a two-day event for the first time this year, has been hailed another huge success by organisers Brighouse Business Initiative (BBI).

The town centre streets came alive with a huge street market, musicians, street entertainers, a funfair and train rides.

Steven Lord, one of the organisers, said: “Once again everybody had a great time at this BBI organised event.

“It is entirely organised and funded by the volunteers of Brighouse. The community spirit we have created is really something special.

“Every time we organise an event, people turn out in their thousands.”

There were craft stalls to browse and delicious homemade cakes and savouries on sale with many award-winning stalls making their first appearance in Brighouse.

Street performers came from all over the country.

Steven added that future community events in Brighouse include Brighouse Cinema showing “The Theory of Everything” tonight (Thursday) at Brighouse Civic Hall at 7.30pm.

St Martin’s Church will host “A Celebration of Music” with singer Rachel Harrison and the famous James Shepherd Versatile Brass on Saturday, June 20.

Tickets for all events are available from Harrison Lord, Simply Flowers and Ryecorn Wholefoods.
