Matt Parkinson, multiple operator for Enterprise Inns, now has another pub under his belt, making that five pubs in operation.
The George in Brighouse; The Crown at Lane Head, Brighouse; The Halfway House in Pellon; The Victoria in Saltaire; and now The Hare and Hounds at Hipperholme.
Matt, from Lightcliffe, took on his first pub aged 20 with his sister Melanie Pillinger and it was The Prince of Orange in Shelf.
After 18 months he then went on to have The Hare and Hounds in Bradford before then becoming a License Trade Stock Auditor.
It was six years ago that Matt then took on his first pub under his current role, which was The George in Brighouse that is managed by Dave and Sue Harker.
“The George is my baby,” laughed Matt.
After being approached by Enterprise to see if he was interested in the Hare and Hounds, Matt viewed the property several times and asked current managers Dave Tripp and partner Lynn Kwapisz if they would be interested in being dual managers with this property and The Crown.
“We spent a week giving the pub a deep clean and now it’s open and ready for business. We just need to build up the trade and give the locals some stability so they can see that their local is open for them,” added Matt.
For the New Year there is a Soul and Motown Disco booked for January 10 and 27.
In the meantime on New Year’s Eve it will be open from 3pm until 1am.
There are four real ale pumps with two in operation at present and will look to have rotating guest ales.
The pub is also now kitted out with the full Sky Sports package.
“I have spoken with Dave and Lynn and they are also going to introduce a quiz night from the beginning of February,” added Matt.
