Ten years of supporting animal welfare

The RSPCA shop in Brighouse opened its doors for the first time on March 24, 2004 - and since then it has gone from strength raising funds for the animal charity.

To mark the 10th anniversary, the shop in Wellington Arcade held a one-day only sale with discounts for customers. Staff and volunteers dressed in animal character costumes.

The store is managed by Joanne Scott and Helena Davis and a team of volunteers work hard to attract the customers. Joanne said: “We have built up a great rapport with the local community and have lots of regular customers as well as a great team of volunteers who are a pleasure to work with.”

The shop raises funds for the RSPCA’s animal centre for Halifax, Huddersfield and district at Wade Street, Halifax.

Branch treasurer Kath Airey said: “Without the income from our charity shops we would struggle to ensure we have sufficient funds to care for the animals and continue with our welfare work in the community.”

Donations of clothing and small household items can be accepted at the Brighouse RSPCA shop.
