CALDERDALE will echo to the sound of stomping feet as supporters of an Elland hospice take part in a midnight walk.

Among them will be 43-year-old Claire Horton of Rastrick Common, Rastrick. She will be doing the walk in memory of her mum Denise Horton, 70, who died this year and spent ten days at the hospice, where she had previously worked as a bereavement counsellor.

Claire will be supported by friends - called Team Bear - who will walk in memory of Denise and also Geoff Hamilton, the father of Laura Hamilton, also on the team.

To sponsor visit www.just or pick up sponsor forms in Brighouse from Park Row Hairdressing and Taste Buds Sandwich Shop on Bradford Road and The Secret Wardrobe on Commercial Street.

Also signed up is the Hilditch family of Elland.

Overgate Hospice Midnight Walk is taking place on September 8 at North Bridge Leisure Centre, Halifax.

The route is kept a secret until the night but the fund-raising team can promise that it will not go anywhere near Southowram Bank as per the request of last year’s walkers.

Fund-raiser Faye Henderson said: “We are so pleased that people enjoy it so much that they take part in the event year after year.

“This event is a great way for people to take part in a fun challenge while still raising money for a much needed charity.”
