LONG serving volunteers at the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice have been given a special send off after years of hard work.
Ivy Wainwright and Peggy Kell have been at the shop in Commercial Street, Brighouse, since it opened in 2008, having had previous experience working at the Overgate Hospice shops. A special tea party was held and the duo were presented with flowers.
Mrs Wainwright of Brighouse said: “We have had some good fun and a lot of laughs working here. Every time we go home the manager Lisa always says thank you and she has never missed saying it.
“We would like to say a thank you to all the customers and staff here at the shop.”
Mrs Kell, of Hove Edge, added: “The shop has got busier and it has its regular customers. People don’t always know that the hospice is to help provide care for sick childeren and it is something we need to support.”
The shop funds go towards the running of the hospice in Brackenhall, which will help to support children and their families throughout Calderdale.
Manager Lisa Freeman said: “Ivy and Peggy have been amazing volunteers. They have done a fabulous job and become really close friends.”
