ROADS were brought to a standstill as snow covered the area.
Several inches of snow fell overnight after weather warnings of snow sweeping down from the north. Many commuters faced a slippy journey into work. The M62 came to a standstill earlier but is now understood to be moving.
There is queuing traffic on A58 Godley Road in both directions in Halifax at the Godley Branch Road junction because of snow.
There is queuing traffic and long delays on A641 Huddersfield Road in both directions in Wyke between Hellfire Crossroads and the A6036 Halifax Road junction because of snow.
Traffic is very slow on A6036 Bradford Road eastbound in Halifax between the A58 Leeds Road junction and the B6147 Cooper Lane junction because of snow. Travel time is 25 minutes.
Metro are reporting that the 537 is not running from Outlane and starting in Elland and not serving Stainland.
The 384/385 is delayed because of a bus stuck at Ainley Top on its way to Brighouse. A lorry is blocking the road.
National Rail are reporting no delays.
Long queues built up on the main Bradford Road between Shelf and Stump Cross after a lorry jackknifed in Northowram around 6.50am.
A Calderdale Council spokeswoman said highways staff were patrolling from the middle of Tuesday afternoon following warnings from the Met office of a belt of snow sweeping in from the North.
“The entire fleet began gritting all the precautionary routes before the snow started falling and will continue to treat the roads until it stops,” she said.
