The first instalments of the £1 million awarded to the people of Rastrick is ready to be spent in the community.

Rastrick Big Local Partnership has had its Big Plan evaluated by Mandy Wilson on behalf of the Local Trust and will release the first £100,000 which is scheduled for the first year of the plan’s operation.

£65,000 has been allocated to Voice Your Choice. This is a participatory budgeting scheme where the residents will decide by a voting process what projects should be funded.

The process of how this will work is currently being formulated by a sub team of the partnership.

£15,000 has been allocated to the popular community projects fund. Once again groups can apply for a one-off grant of £1,500 to fund a community project that can be developed and completed within the current year.

£20,000 has been allocated for the recruitment and salary of a support worker to assist the partnership in implementing the Big Plan and furthering the development of Big Local in the area.

The partnerships said it is vital to mention the scheme is resident-led and that residents make the decisions on all aspects of the operation of the Big Local project. Visit
