MOTORISTS are facing huge delays through Brighouse this morning following an accident on the M62.
Part of the westbound carriageway was closed after a lorry overturned between junction 26 at Chain Bar and junction 25 at Brighouse.
The lorry is understood to have been involved in a collision with a car near Hartshead Moor Services.
A man and a woman received serious injuries when the car they were in was involved in a collision with the lorry at around 5.55am today.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said a man and a woman in the car has suffered serious injuries in the collision and the driver of the lorry had also been taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for a check up.
The road is expected to be closed for some time. Meanwhile traffic is at a standstil around the Bradford Road area at Brighouse as people try to find alternative routes.
Metro has reported delays with some of its services travelling through Wyke and Brighouse. The police spokesman said: “It is causing some considerable traffic disruption.”
A diversion is currently in place if you follow signs with a hollow diamond symbol via the A58, A641 and the A644 to rejoin the M62 at J25. Congestion to beyond J27, Gildersome and on M606 to J3, Staygate Roundabout.
