The second day of Brighouse’s Yorkshire Victorian Christmas Market has had to be cancelled because of high winds forecast for tomorrow.
The popular two-day event began today.
A statement read: “Hi all, we have decided to not run the Yorkshire Victorian Christmas Market tomorrow.
“Thank you for all the amazing support. We want to keep Brighouse and the visitors safe.
“Despite rain today, the turnout was AMAZING! We’ve put so much effort into the event, many amazing volunteers, and today was fantastic, but we need to keep everything safe with the high winds now forecast tomorrow. Hope to see you in Brighouse again soon.”
Steven Lord, of the Brighouse Business Initiative, said: “People turned out in force despite the weather. I was amazed at how many people were there.
“We have very reluctantly cancelled tomorrow, I am very disappointed as it has taken months of preparation and a lot of costs.
“I can’t praise the people of Brighouse enough, the weather was dreadful, but they came out and people said they had a great time.
“The stall holders, singers and everybody else all did their best in dreadful conditions.
“Despite the weather, it was still a fantastic event.”
