The search has begun for the next Brighouse Gala Queen.
The auditions will be taking place on Monday, April 29, at Prego’s in Brighouse to select a queen and her attendant for the event on Saturday, June 29.
The queen will take part in the procession with her attendant and last year’s queen Emilie Large, driven to the field in style. She will be officially crowned at the opening ceremony in the field at Wellholme Park in Bradford Road.
Girls, who must be between 16 to 21 years of age on gala day, will be judged on their personality and enthusiasm.
They must also live, work or go to school in the Brighouse area.
Anyone interested will be asked to meet the judging panel which will include members from Brighouse Ladies’ Circle, members of the gala committee and Gala Queen Emilie Large.
The girl chosen to take on the job will receive £150 for an outfit for gala day, and her attendant will receive £100 also for a new outfit.
Arrangements will be made for the girls to have their hair styled, make-up done and flowers will be provided for the occasion.
There was a good turnout for the auditions last year and members of Brighouse Ladies’ Circle who organise it are hoping that people will take advantage of it this year.
Emilie who was an attendant to 2011’s queen Robyn Park-Ward, returned to the auditions because she wanted to raise awareness and support for Highbury School, Rastrick, who were saving £250,000 to fund a new hydrotherapy pool.
The chosen girl will become an ambassador for Brighouse and show support to the local community. The auditions will start at 7pm. For further information email email@example.com
