A RASTRICK man has received a Citizenship award from Calderdale Council for almost 35 years of service to St Matthew’s Scouts.
Colin Watson devotes a large amount of his time to making the organisation at St Matthew’s Parish Centre, Rastrick, run smoothly. He encourages parents to get involved, supports scouting activities, liaises with the scouting organisation, raises funds and much more.
He said: “I like seeing the faces of the young ones, the fun they get from scouting and seeing the boys who were scouts when I first started coming back now with their families.”
Councillor Christine Beal said Colin was respected and admired by many people in Rastrick for his services to the scouts and to his local community.
“He is a fantastic scout leader and has given years of commitment and devotion to the organisation.”
