Pupils and staff at Hipperholme Grammar School are preparing to bid farewell to one of the school’s longest serving teaching staff at its annual alumni reunion on July 1.
Head master Jack Williams is inviting all former pupils – known as Brodleians – to attend the evening and help the school say goodbye to long-standing Geography and PE teacher Richard Griffiths.
Mr Griffiths joined the school in 1985, and has been a key figure in the school for the last 31 years.
The evening will mark his retirement as well as gathering together former pupils to share memories with old school friends and staff, with refreshments provided by the school’s catering team.
Mr Williams commented: “Mr Griffiths will be dearly missed by everyone at the school, and so the Brodleians reunion is a perfect way to ensure past and present pupils get an opportunity to say farewell.
“We usually welcome between 60 and 70 people to our reunions, and we’re hoping for an ever greater turnout for this special occasion.”
This year’s reunion will start at 6.30pm in the senior school main hall.
