School promotes recycling scheme

YOUNGSTERS have been bitten by the recycling bug and are now calling on the community to help them in their quest.

St Chad’s CE Primary School, Hove Edge, is one of the schools involved in the recycling scheme set up by Brighouse export manager Jonathan Ward, of Excel Fibre Technology.

Mr Ward has been visiting schools in the area to try and encourage them to recycle newspapers which the company can then use in their eco-friendly products.

Each of the schools will receive a wheelie bin and every few weeks Jonathan will come and collect the bin in exchange for a donation.

Ian Wood, who is running the scheme with the business and enterprise club at St Chad’s, said they had nearly filled two bins.

“It has been running for nearly a month and we are just wanting to give it a push now. We have come up with the idea of having one of the club members dressed up as recycling man and we will be targeting the school assembly. We would also like to involve the community and ask them to donate their newspapers to us.”

Mr Ward said he would encourage the communities that the schools are within to support the children to do this. “We would like them to help the schools to get the schemes up and running,” he said.
