Rose makes waves on the radio

FORMER Brighouse High School pupil Rose Widdison has landed a plum job as presenter on Leeds-based Galaxy Radio's breakfast show - at the age of 19.

Rose, of Northowram, Halifax, went live this week, replacing breakfast girl JoJo who is on maternity leave. She joins Simon Hirst and Danny Oakes on the show which pulls in half a million listeners.

Teachers' daughter Rose joined Galaxy as a receptionist after working as a temp in local offices but her individual style soon got her noticed.

"It really is a dream come true. I've landed one of the most sought-after jobs in radio and I'm going to give it my best shot. I've always been interested in music and getting up at 4.30 each morning doesn't bother me because I miss the rush-hour traffic."
