One of Calderdale’s longest established restaurants has unveiled a brand new look and menu at an event raising £2,425 for charity.

La Cachette Bistro in Elland officially re-launched on September 10, with an invitation only dining experience, donating one hundred percent of the profit from the ticket sales to Huddersfield based children’s charity Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

More than 85 people attended the fundraising event to celebrate the re-launch of the restaurant.

It closed on August 22, to undergo an extensive programme of refurbishment including a redesigned art nouveau inspired interior and exterior.

Guests dined on the French bistro’s newly created Menu du Jour, enjoying a modern take on classic French dishes such as salt cod brandade, beef bourguignon and crème brûlée with lavender.

In addition to ticket sales donations, La Cachette raised a further £625 through a prize draw on the night with prizes including a massage from Huddersfield based Alexandra House Spa and a climbing experience for six people from Brighouse based Rokt.

Jason Costello, head of community fundraising at Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, said:“What a wonderful night of great food, conversation and laughter.

“Food is a fantastic way of bringing people together, especially in the reinvigorated surroundings of La Cachette.

“The bistro will provide a lot of happy times and memories for lots of families and friends.

“I can’t thank Glenn, Robert, John and the team enough for their truly remarkable fundraiser and wish them every success for the future.”

Glenn Futter, head chef at La Cachette, added: “It was great to welcome some new faces and I’m delighted that the new décor and menu was so well-received.

“Even better was the fact that we raised over £2,000 for such a good cause.

“We’re proud to have supported Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice through this event.”

Along with a newly created Menu du Jour and an A la carte menu, the restaurant has launched a lunch time hors d’oeuvres selection and a Menu Degustation – a six course tasting menu that can be enjoyed by a whole table.

Classic afternoon tea will also be available every Saturday between 12 and 4pm.
