Rainbow flag flies at half mast above town hall
Calderdale Council has flown a rainbow flag, the symbol of the LGBT community, at half mast outside Halifax Town Hall as a tribute to the 49 people killed in a mass shooting at a gay club in Orlando.
Omar Mateen was shot dead by police after killing 49 people and injuring a further 53 at the city’s Pulse nightclub early on Sunday morning.
Extremist group so-called Islamic State called Mateen one of its “soldiers”.
The attack was the deadliest in recent US history.
