Parks and outdoor spaces in Calderdale have received another seal of approval after the council received an award from the charity Fields in Trust.
The council received recognition in the North of England, Partner of the Year category.
This accolade is given to landowners who have most actively embraced the values of Fields in Trust, protecting and promoting outdoor spaces.
Fields in Trust works with more than 400 local authorities across the UK to protect and improve outdoor recreational spaces.
Calderdale Council was one of only five local authorities from across the UK to be shortlisted for this prestigious prize.
Calderdale Council was nominated for the award by Fields in Trust Development Manager Jamie Leeson.
“Calderdale Council is my deserving nomination for Fields in Trust’s Partner of the Year Award 2014, for the willingness they have shown to get involved with all of the Fields in Trust protection schemes,” he said.
“They have not only put valuable green space forward for protection with us but have also put a huge amount of time and effort into holding successful Have a Field Days to promote these spaces.”
