Calder Valley MP Craig Whittaker got behind the counters and checkouts at Sainsbury’s in Brighouse to prepare food and serve customers.
Welcomed into the store by manager Dee O’Brien and regional counters manager James Wright, he was shown the importance of safety and hygiene when preparing food. He also gained a few tips from trained colleagues on how to cut lamb chops and fillet fish.
The day was designed to highlight the various career opportunities retail offers, and the training available to colleagues.
“I had a great day accompanying the counters team,” said Mr Whittaker. “It’s interesting to see how passionate the colleagues are and I loved meeting some of the local customers. It was great to see that Sainsbury’s invests the time to train, develop and support their colleagues.”
This year Sainsbury’s was awarded its second consecutive Gold Investors in People accreditation for supporting, developing and motivating its colleagues.
