Youngsters from across Brighouse have joined the Rotary club in their ‘End Polio Now’ campaign.
Pupils from Baliffe Bridge Primary School Junior and Infant School planted purple crocus plants at Bailiff Bridge Memorial Park.
Chris Redfearn, from the Rotary Club of Brighouse said they have been committed to making an annual donation to the End Polio Now campaign for the last 15 years or more.
“Most years this has amounted to £1,000 or more. This year additionally we have committed to provide crocus bulbs to many schools in the district, to Brighouse Railway station and to Calderdale Parks and Gardens department to plant as a reminder of what has and is still to be achieved.”
The Crocus was chosen as a symbol because the purple colour matches the dye painted on the fingers of children who have been immunised.
