Catherine Cutts, corps secretary, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the amount of toys we have received and we know that these will bring joy to over 160 children in our area on Christmas Day.

“We have also been able to provide food hampers to over 50 families who otherwise would have struggled to give their families a Christmas meal.

“Your monetary donations have contributed towards the toy appeal and to the food hampers. It means so much as we couldn’t do what we do without your thoughtfulness and willingness to help those who are struggling at present. Thank you for showing that you care and for making a difference to local families.

“We also wish to thank those local businesses who support the work we do, not just at Christmas, but throughout the year. These include all the supermarkets in the town as well as smaller businesses including Bluebells at Hove Edge; Brian Powe, Butcher, of Hipperholme; Ramzy’s Pharmacy, Hipperholme. The support and donations we receive are very much appreciated.

“We wish you all a peaceful and blessed Christmas and New Year.”
