PEOPLE of Rastrick are being asked if they want to see the return of a popular summer event.
Party in the Park was organised by members of the Carr Green and Crowtrees Action Group for three years until the event had to postponed in 2011 due to changes in personal circumstances of a number of volunteers.
However, early discussions could be taking place to bring back the party or to organise a Rastrick Community Gala for 2013.
At Rastrick ward forum, Councillor Christine Beal (Con Rastrick), said things were at a very early stage but an idea of a gala had been put forward if enough people got involved.
“In order to do that we would need to get together as a community and ask the whole area if they would want something like this.
“Then we would have to approach local groups, schools and people to get involved and make a questionnaire for residents to fill in about what they think and want.
“The event could be something similar to the Brighouse Gala.
“If we get enough groups and people saying it is a good idea and they are prepared to help run it then we will go for it.”
The summer event used to be held at Carr Green recreation park and was first held in 2008 where the aim was to raise the profile of the group, raise some funds, and bring people together in the community for a fun event.
The party was well supported by Thornhill Estates and had an array of entertainment for all ages and demonstrations from the emergency services.
To get involved or find out more contact Coun Beal on 01484 719250 or go to the ward forums. The next is planned for June.
