A COUPLE from Northowram are celebrating after scooping almost £1 million on the lottery.
Mark and Penny Sutcliffe shared the Lotto Jackpot from last Saturday and won £988,373.
Mark, 43, first realised that they had won when he was looking on Teletext on Sunday afternoon.
“I don’t usually go on Teletext and I had to check three or four times that it was right,” he said. “It is a very surreal thing seeing your numbers there.”
Penny, 39, said: “I was out walking our dog Maisy when Mark rang to tell me the news.
“I was quite calm really. It was only after I spoke to Camelot, who confirmed we’d won, that I started to get excited.”
On the top of their wish list is a cruise around the Mediterranean or Caribbean as well a new car and house.
The couple who announced the news at the Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford, have three children who have all made up shopping ists.
They have played the same numbers every week with their first line a combination of family birthdays and significant numbers and their winning line of 2, 9, 16, 21, 31 and 44 with one added to every date.
