A BRIGHOUSE woman got the chance to meet one of her football idols and team up with him for a table soccer competition.
Jo Smith, 48, competed at Npower’s No Power Road show with the chance to play with former Liverpool legend and England manager Kevin Keegan.
Jo, an officer with West Yorkshire Police, has been playing football for 30 years.
She takes part in five-a-side football games and represents Saltaire Ladies.
She showed she was just as handy with her hands as her feet and ensured she won every single table match to play with her hero who she used to go and watch in his playing days.
“If I’d known I would’ve be playing table footie with Kevin Keegan I wouldn’t have been able to sleep the night before, I’d have been too nervous,” she said.
“To play with Kevin Keegan on my team is fantastic. I’d never want to play against him, I’d have to let him win.”
Their partnership proved to be a winning one as they defeated Vanessa Walker, 46, from Pudsey and another Brighouse player Anita Roberts 3-2 in Leeds Millennium square.
The project is to encourage families to switch off for an hour each day.
The former England manager also treated parents and kids to a special football workshop.
