Calder Valley MP Craig Whittaker is launching a new style of ‘surgery’.
As well as beginning a new round of his regular surgeries dealing with individual constituents’ issues on an appointment-only basis every two weeks or so, Mr Whittaker will be doing additional ‘open surgeries’ which will accommodate those who cannot fit into these.
The first will be held on Thursday, April 4, from 4pm until 7pm at the Church Lane Constituency Office in Brighouse with no appointments necessary.
Depending on the numbers attending, some people may be seen by Mr Whittaker’s staff members, with the matter then passed for his attention as appropriate.
Individual surgeries requiring appointments will run as usual with the first in Brighouse on Friday April 12 from 11am until 1pm. A full list of dates is available on Craig’s website at www.craigwhittakermp.co.uk
He will also be holding ‘street surgeries’ on stalls at local markets and events where he will be available for a more informal chat with anyone who wishes to do so.
Mr Whittaker will be at the street market in Saturday, April 27, and later at the 1940s weekend in June, both due in Brighouse.
Craig is also offering to visit groups of people by arrangement who would like to have a ‘question and answer’ style session with him, whether that’s at someone’s home or another suitable venue. “We’re calling these ‘Meet Your MP’ sessions,” he said.
“We have those which we organise ourselves which have proved popular in the past, which we still intend to do - but realise that not everyone can make the set dates and times.
“Therefore if a group of say, six or more people would like me to meet and discuss issues with them, I’m happy to do this by arrangement with my office on 01484 711260 or firstname.lastname@example.org
