BRIGHOUSE is getting into the Diamond Jubilee spirit - but it needs helpers to get involved.
Plans are well-advanced for a community street party in the town centre on Saturday, June 2. The party will have a 1950s theme and there will be food, music and entertainment from 10am to 3pm.
But to make sure the event is a success, organisers are now appealing to people to volunteer to help on the day and to bake cakes for the party.
Lesley Adams, of Brighouse Business Initiative, said: “The party will be free and Brighouse businesses have been fantastic at giving us food for the party. But we would still like people to get involved by making cakes, sandwiches, sausage rolls and so on.”
Anyone with a vaintage car in invited to bring it into the town centre on the day and Brighouse schoolchildren are busy making bunting to decorate Commercial Street. Food should be taken to Simply Flowers by Friday, June 1. Volunteers should contact 01484 400664.
