Brighouse and Rastrick Band has appointed a new resident conductor.
Leigh Baker was previously a playing member of the band for close on 20 years as well as being the band’s composer in residence for a lengthy period.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be returning to my spiritual home. The band were, and still are such an important part of my life and to take the resident role is a perfect culmination of my conducting career so far. I’m thrilled to be working alongside David King and we are already discussing really exciting projects and initiatives, alongside the chance for me to once again write music for the band.
“The band is absolutely on fire at the minute and it’s a great time to be part of the Brighouse organisation. I’ve loved my time at Carlton Main and would like to pay tribute to the players and Phillip McCann for a great 2 and a half years with a really successful run of contests and some fabulous concerts.”
