Late night opening to attract custom Brighouse shops . . .

BRIGHOUSE shops are launching a late night shopping evening.

The late night shopping scheme will run throughout the year on the first Thursday of every month, starting on November 1, to give an alternative to the supermarket shop. And as an added extra some of the stallholders from the Food and Craft Market have been invited into the shops. These include Sushi Tuesday, Love Bread and Ivyhouse Cheese from Southowram.

But that’s not all, the restaurants are also hoping to attract more shoppers into the town and will be offering a special Thursday evening deal.

One of the organisers, Lesley Adams, said: “We know from feedback we have received at the Totally Locally markets that people like the idea of shopping locally to ensure that their money stays in the local economy.

“However we also understand that this isn’t always convenient for people. If you work full-time, commute or have kids no matter how much you may want to shop locally it is just too impractical.

“The popularity of the markets has shown that there is clearly an appetite for locally produced goods and services which is why we are launching late night Thursdays and to help address some of the impracticalities of shopping locally.

“We hope that people will take the time to come into town, have a wonder round and get to know their local shops and all that they have to offer.

“As well as having the chance to stock up on locally produce people may also save a little bit of money. You can’t ask for more than that.”
