The most important things for people who need care services are to be safe and to be able to lead the sort of life they want, in order to be as independent as possible. This means enhancing the quality of life for people with care and supports needs.
Safeguarding people whose circumstances make them vulnerable and protecting them from avoidable harm is essential. I support the principle that, where possible, people with care and support needs focus on what they can do for themselves, either independently, or with family and community support.
It is essential that people are treated with dignity and respect, at all times, and I am pleased to support Calderdale Council in working actively in partnerships to deliver better outcomes for people.
