Nominations are now open for the Champion Children Awards 2014 and we need your help to find those youngsters who deserve a special treat this Christmas.

Nominated children will be invited to a glittering awards ceremony at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, on December 20, 2014, where they will be presented with an award by Halifax’s very own Neil Hurst, before being treated to a matinee performance of the Christmas pantomime - Jack and the Beanstalk.

If you know a young person who is a Champion Child, please write to tell us what makes them special.

Please include the child’s name, age, address and their parent or guardian’s contact number. Mark nominations as ‘Champion Children 2014’ and email them to felicity.macnamara@jpress.co.uk. The deadline for nominations is Friday, November 7, 2014.

Meanwhile, preparations for the pantomime are well underway.

Steve Boden, Managing Director of Imagine Theatre, said: “Plans for panto begin more than a year in advance of the first performance when we discuss suitable titles and run dates. We then think about the magical “wow” factors that we want to include in the show, along with any particular cast members.

“The show is then written, scenery and costumes assembled and actors, musicians and technical staff recruited.”

A pantomime is not just for Christmas and you can get into the magic of the season by helping Jack find his magic beans this half term.

Hidden in shop windows across Halifax town centre are tins of Jack’s magic beans - visit Harvey’s cafe and gift department, The Chinese Buffet and Pizza Express in Broad Street Plaza to find them.

Find them all and you will be entered into a prize draw to win family tickets to Jack and the Beanstalk. Pick up a form from the Victoria Theatre Box Office or the participating shops and write the number displayed on the tin.

Entries must be received by the Victoria Theatre box office by Monday, November 3.
